The State Innovation Exchange’s 2017 End of Session Report is here! Every year, SiX releases a report examining major legislation and trends that emerged in state capitols across the country during the most recent legislative session, and today, the #SiX2017Report was released. The State Innovation Exchange’s 2017 End of Session Report details the most significant progressive victories and most worrisome conservative trends in the states in 2017. This year, progressive state legislators worked tirelessly to promote policies that treat people fairly and provide working families with security and opportunity, while also resisting President Donald Trump’s hostile agenda. But conservatives still hold power in a disproportionate number of states, and made disturbing new efforts to cement that power by unraveling basic democratic mechanisms, including citizen’s right to peacefully protest.
