State Legislators Praise Selection of Jessie Ulibarri as SiX's New Executive Director

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, the State Innovation Exchange (SiX) announced that Jessie Ulibarri, a former Colorado State Senator, nonprofit executive, and community organizer will join the organization as our next Executive Director beginning on September 4, 2018.

Since the announcement, state legislators representing diverse corners of the country have weighed in with praise for Jessie’s demonstrated leadership abilities, potential to lead SiX, and help legislators across the nation advance a progressive, people-driven agenda:

“From the first time I met Jessie, it was clear he was a smart, aggressive leader who was committed to a progressive agenda and knew how to turn it into reality. Back then, he was training legislators on how to be effective messengers and leaders in the progressive movement.  Leading SiX as its next Executive Director is a natural step for him and I am excited to see where his leadership takes our movement and this organization,” said New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera.

“Jessie is brilliant, fearless, and experienced. I look forward to his leadership and guidance in passing legislation that puts people before politics, and gives all an opportunity to thrive,” said Georgia State Representative Sam Park.

"Jessie Ulibarri is an incredible leader and will serve the State Innovation Exchange with extensive experience and a hard work ethic that will move progressive candidates and values forward across the country. I have worked with him in several capacities on legislative races and ballot initiatives. He helped provide the skills and training for me to work to defeat corporate interests in North Dakota, a deep red state, and we were successful. I congratulate him on being named Executive Director and look forward to all he will do,” said former North Dakota State Representative Jessica Haak Edland.
