Joaquin Rios serves as the Arizona State Director for SiX. Prior to SiX, Rios served as the Chief of Staff to Phoenix City Councilwoman Kate Gallego, who spearheaded the successful effort to develop the Phoenix Equal Pay Ordinance and chaired the campaign to pass Proposition 104, the city’s transportation plan through 2050. Rios, a licensed attorney, previously served as a Staff Attorney in the Housing Unit at Community Legal Services, a nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services to low-income Arizonans. Rios also previously practiced immigration law, served as Research Director for the Arizona Democratic Party, and worked in a wide variety of roles on progressive political campaigns at all levels in Arizona for over a decade. Rios holds a J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a B.S. in Political Science from Arizona State University.
