Sunila Chilukuri is a Senior Research and Policy Associate with SiX. In this role, she supports state legislators nationwide with policy analysis, legislative research, and bill tracking and provides dedicated support to SiX’s Democracy Project. Prior to joining SiX, Sunila worked with several organizations that advocate for democracy and voting reforms in the US and abroad. She most recently consulted with the Center for Secure and Modern Elections and investigated the expansion of automatic voter registration to agencies that serve underrepresented Americans. While pursuing a graduate degree, Sunila served as a Research Fellow with SiX and interned with Democracy North Carolina. Before graduate school, she spent four years at the National Democratic Institute, working on the ground with activists monitoring elections in Burundi, Guatemala, and Tanzania, among others. Sunila has an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a BA in Politics and History from New York University. She is a North Carolina native currently living in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
