Rep. Warren Calls for Infrastructure Investments, Good Jobs, and Increased Investment in Renewable Energy

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. —During a telephone town hall this evening, Pennsylvania State Rep. Perry Warren called for an increase in the state’s investment in infrastructure. The call, hosted by the State Innovation Exchange (SiX), reached over 2,000 people with a peak of over 200 people on the line at a time.

Participants on the call kicked it off by asking what Pennsylvania Democrats are doing to invest in infrastructure.

“We’re all proud to call Pennsylvania home and I believe we need to take care of our Commonwealth to ensure that it’s a great place to live for everyone,” said Rep. Warren, D-Bucks County. “That’s why, in this year’s budget, I will work to build out our infrastructure by installing high-speed internet across our state—in rural areas as well as urban—and by investing in our crumbling infrastructure by putting Pennsylvanians to work by building and repairing roads and bridges.”

Additional questions from residents covered: when I-95 will be improved; the state’s plan for structurally deficient bridges; high-speed internet in rural areas; new technology for pothole repairs; construction of pipelines carrying natural gas; what types of jobs would be created by investments in infrastructure; and how the state is investing in green infrastructure.

Rep. Warren also discussed the bill he is co-sponsoring, HB2132, that would transition Pennsylvania to 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.

The event was open to the public and members of the press. The final telephone town hall in this series of budget town halls will be hosted by Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe County, and focused on protecting  access to affordable health care. The call will take place next Thursday, June 7,  from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET. The registration link can be found here. The town halls are sponsored by the State Innovation Exchange, a national resource and strategy center that supports progressive state legislators.
