Symone Sanders, Ilyse Hogue, Karine Jean-Pierre Join Progressive Legislators for Panel to be Held During Fourth Annual SiX Legislator Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Over 500 progressive legislators and legislative staff from around the country will gather in Washington, D.C. on Monday, October 9 to discuss and map out a strategy to confront President Trump’s agenda. The panel titled, “States Resisting Trump and the Conservative Federal Agenda,” part of the State Innovation Exchange’s fourth annual SiX Legislator Conference, will include high profile progressives including Symone Sanders, Ilyse Hogue and Karine Jean-Pierre. They will join California State Sen. Mike McGuire and New York Assemblywoman Nily Rozic to discuss how progressives can resist Trump at the state level.
Sen. McGuire is the sponsor of SB-149, which recently passed both chambers of the California legislature. The Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act would require presidential candidates to disclose five years worth of tax returns in order to qualify for the presidential primary ballot. If the measure is signed, it will be the first of its kind in any state in the country. Assemblywoman Rozic recently introduced a bill to rename Donald J. Trump State Park in New York in honor of Heather Heyer, the woman killed by a white supremacist in Charlottesville.
